The Season
What Six Months Here Looks Like
Move in with the foliage, ski through the winter, leave as the maples run. The lifts are five minutes away, so a Saturday on the mountain still ends with an afternoon by the fire, and a weekday run after work is a real option.
Mid October
Move in. Peak foliage on the hillside, the Appalachian Trail ten minutes away, apples and pumpkins at Dykeman Farm.
November
Hunting season opens on the 400 acres of Cranberry Mountain State Land at the property line. Fires every night.
Mid December
Thunder Ridge typically opens for the season, weather permitting, with night skiing on weekdays and a ski school.
Dec 24 to Jan 1
The holiday week at the farmhouse: a long table, three bedrooms, and the mountain open every day.
January and February
The heart of the ski season. Weekend ski shuttle from Patterson station. Presidents' Day week, February 15 to 19, falls right in the middle.
March to April 15
Spring skiing, sugaring season at the local farms, snowshoe trails turning back into hiking trails. Move out on April 15.
