Apple Picking and Orchards Near Pawling, New York

cider donuts and rows of apples

Every September the orchards around Pawling start to fill the calendar. These three are within easy reach of the farmhouse, and each does fall a little differently. Prices and dates below reflect the 2026 season, so confirm on each farm's website before you go.

Dykeman Farm, Closest to the Farmhouse

Dykeman Farm is in Pawling, a fourth-generation farm with a farm stand and, in September and October, apple picking and pumpkin picking. Hayrides and parking are free. Picking runs on weekends and Columbus Day from 10am to 5pm, and reservations are required for apple picking only.

At about twelve minutes from the farmhouse, it is the closest orchard on this list. The farm stand is open seven days a week from July 1 through October 31, 10am to 5pm.

Good to know: Reserve apple picking through the farm website or by calling 845-832-6068. Cash is recommended, since card service can be unreliable on busy fall days. 31 Dykeman Lane, Pawling.

Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard, North Salem

Harvest Moon is a family-owned and operated farm on Hardscrabble Road, and the same farm makes Hardscrabble Cider, its own hard cider. Pick-your-own runs September and October by ticket, released weekly on the farm website.

More than thirty apple varieties are on offer, including Cortland, Empire, Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith, Jonagold, and McIntosh. The farm store is open daily from 9am to 6pm, April through Christmas, and the cafe serves fresh sandwiches and slow-food dishes from 9am to 3pm. Apple cider donuts are made fresh every day, alongside fruit pies and specialty pastries. The store also carries vegetables, eggs, 100 percent grass-fed beef, and pasture-raised turkeys, and the farm hosts cider-themed music and pizza nights.

Good to know: In fall, the farm store and taproom are closed to the public on weekends and open only to Fall Festival ticket holders. Check the website before you drive over. Phone 914-485-1210. 130 Hardscrabble Road, North Salem.

Fishkill Farms, Hopewell Junction

Fishkill Farms runs pick-your-own by reservation, generally 9am to 5pm Tuesday through Sunday in season. For 2026, apples are available through Sunday, November 1. The certified organic varieties include Crimson Crisp, Florina, King David, Liberty, Spartan, Suncrisp, and Sweet 16. The eco-certified varieties include Ashmead's Kernel, Calville Blanc d'Hiver, Cameo, Cortland, and more than eighteen others.

For 2026, a classic half-bushel bag is $52 (about 22 pounds) and a medium bag is $34 (about 12 pounds). Pumpkins run from $5 to $35 depending on size, and earlier in the season the farm opens pick-your-own flowers and sunflowers. The farm lost most of its 2026 pear crop to an April frost, so the farm store buys pears from other eco-certified orchards. Organic vegetables and eco-certified fruit are sold in the farm store year-round.

Good to know: Reservations are required for pick-your-own: reserve a time on the farm website or call 845-897-4377. 9 Fishkill Farm Road, Hopewell Junction.

Tips for a Good Pick

Bring a bucket or a wide bag with a soft bottom so the fruit does not bruise.

Wear closed-toe shoes, since orchard rows are uneven and can be muddy after rain.

Ask the farm staff which varieties are best for eating and which are best for baking.

Reserve before you leave: Dykeman, Harvest Moon, and Fishkill Farms all ask for a reservation or ticket for apple picking.
